CSN Stores Giveaway

Hello dining room light. You are not cute. You need to go.

I searched for a dining room light that had the right mix of my Mid-century modern-Bauhaus -Contemporary-Found-and-Funkified-Retro-DaDa-Danish decorating style. I checked my home improvement stores, The Great Indoors, eBay, Craigslist, the Restore, my favorite mid-century furniture consignment shops, and considered some DIY options. Nothing spoke to me.

One fine November day, as I was drooling over mid-century pieces on the Web I eventually found myself on CSN Stores modern décor store. CSN Stores sells a ton of green and kitchen items and just about everything else. Could they hook us up with a Mid-century modern-Bauhaus -Contemporary-Found-and-Funkified-Retro-DaDa-Danish light for the dining room?

Oh yes.

CSN Stores sells the Louis Poulsen Artichoke Light I adore! It’s perfect!

It’s over $7,000.

Wow. I have really good taste.

That I can’t afford.

I keep searching. CSN also sells the Normann Copenhagen Norm 69 Lamp that is Danish (like me!), reminiscent of the Artichoke Light, and IS at a price I can afford.

Miracle of miracles Husband likes the Norm 69 Lamp too.

I bought it (with my own money.)

CSN Stores sent it to me in a timely manner but with the holidays, dog surgery, and Blissdom I haven’t had a chance to put it together and install it until now.

A CFL light bulb fits in it just fine.

I wasn’t prepared for The Norm 69 Lamp to come flat packed. It took a couple of hours to fold all of the petals and put together the light. It was an afternoon of slip Tab A into Slot B.

The results are sculptural and stunning.

I think I should have ordered the medium Norm 69 instead of the extra-large.

I love how the Norm 69 Lamp looks against the graphic Ikea panels that cover the screen door in the kitchen (and back light the photo – sorry about that.)

I got an extra validation of my design choice (as in I screamed so loud that Husband ran into the room because I thought I was being mauled by a tiger) when I saw Candice Olsen using a Norm 69 Lamp in a mid-century style kitchen remodel on HGTV.

One more boring builder light banished from my house and ready for the Restore. That makes so HAPPY!
