My First Mother’s Day

Sunday my first Mother's Day as a mom.

Husband surprised me with a little bouquet of flowers, “After the month you've been through you are a mom and you deserve a Mother's Day."

Tip: Trader Joe's flowers are beautiful, affordable, and sustainably grown!
We always buy our flowers at Trader Joe's. The quality can't be beat.

I hugged Husband so hard I almost broke his ribs. We are riding opposite horses on the Blitzkrieg Cancer Go Round. My horse is down because Blitzkrieg has been so sick with nausea and diarrhea after his last cancer treatment. I felt like a complete jerk for complaining that my housesmells like dog pee and then explosive poo and then my boy had to spend the night at the vet hospital for IV versions of his medications. I have an in depth update on the Blitzkrieg Cancer Treatment Fund page.

Our oncologist knows I’m a blogger and worried I might say bad things about her on my blogs. Far from it! Hi Dr. B! We think you and your team rock!
I didn’t think I was going through anything more than Husband was and while I appreciate all of the love and support (thank you everyone!) I’m not the one fighting cancer, Blitzkrieg is. This little dog deserves the medal, not me. Blitzkrieg has no clue why we’re doing what we are doing and why he feels good day and lousy the next.
Thank you for the special Mother's Day gift Blitzkrieg.
I was satisfied with Blitzkrieg's gift of feeling well enough to want on my lap for morning cuddles and pets when I sat in his favorite chair Sunday morning. He gave me kisses on my hand after weeks of not feeling up to it. Dog snuggles and kisses are the best Mother’s Day gift Blitzkrieg can give me.

Husband gently reminded me how I put together a Condo Blues and Lazy Budget Chef  informational table on the fly for the Mom’s Night Out event last Thursday at the Mall at Tuttle Crossing.

My booth!

In exchange for helping Tuttle Mall promote the event via my social media channels, they gave me a table and allowed me to take donations for the Blitzkrieg Cancer Treatment Fund.

I had projects, recipes, and taught tool demos!

In other words, shut up and let me treat you to lunch at a cheap family run but yum! local Mexican restaurant that boosts the Best Margaritas in Town*, because you deserve to know how much I love you, darn it!

So I did.

When we came home from lunch, I had a renewed energy to build our craft booth for the Pet Promise Rescue Run. I will be selling soy wax candles, braided fleece dog chew toys, tote bags, and reclaimed wood signs at the Pet Promise Rescues Run 5K Saturday, May 26 8-1pm. All proceeds from my booth will go toward the Blitzkrieg Cancer Treatment fund. If he is up to it, Blitzkrieg will be there to give you a high five in person!

Thanks for running the race and helping my fellow rescues!

More details about Blitzkrieg’s stay at the vet hospital and photos of Blitzkrieg taunting his buddy Max the Scottish Terrier with his sweet ride at the Ohio State Medieval and Renaissance Festival!

Can you tell which one likes to have his picture taken?

*Just like the sign on the front door says, La Roya HAS the best margaritas in town. Husband declared them the perfect blend of tart vs. sweet. So there you go.
