I don't have any problem remaking or upcycling something I bought at a thrift store or grabbed from the side of the road. I'm OK with taking in, shortening, or altering clothes I purchased new.
But I have a weird thing about buying a new doodad that isn't a DIY or craft supply and making it over. I don't know why. I just do. Crazy, right?
That's why I'm glad I have a friend like Allison at House of Hepworths. Allison doesn't have any problem buying something new to make over so it looks even better than the original.
Allison bought a cardboard taxidermy unicorn for her daughter's room. Instead of leaving it white, Allison grabbed her trusty (and nontoxic) Mod Podge to hounds tooth it, paint it, add a raffia mane. Check out how Allison made her plain white cardboard unicorn magical at House of Hepworths here.
I totally want Allison to be my mom.
