Make Microwave Hand Warming Gloves

As soon as it gets cold outside, Blitzkrieg decides that no matter how badly he needs to go, it’s going to take three times as long to find the perfect potty spot to do it. Why does this happen? Especially on those snowy nights when Blitzkrieg forgets that I’m not a double coated Pekingese and I’m freezing my fingers and toes off ifyaknowwhatImean.

Snow is fun - suck it up!

I’ve seen hand warming packs for hunters, et al. but they are disposable, which really isn’t my style. I try to stay away from disables as much as humanly possible. I like reusables. And then there’s the question of what’s in that stuff that makes the hot packs hot on demand. That’s not something I want Mr. Fluffypants find and use as a chew toy either.

But having a nice warm pack in my gloves would be a pleasant way to keep the cold from eating through my gloves and making my fingers go numb when walking the dog on a winter’s day.

Well, here ya go. Crafty Stylish has a genius way to make gloves that you can warm up in the microwave! Their microwave hand warming gloves are a brilliant variation on my chambered microwave heating pad. I already have an old pair of old gloves, rice, and felt scraps at home ready and waiting for a project I didn't know I needed until now.

I’m whipped up a pair for frozen dog walking days!

That is fabulous!! I sometimes wear a pair of "magic gloves" inside mittens (so I can take off the mittens and have fingers free but covered), and the warm gloves would work great with that setup. I like some commenters' suggestion of a pocket with removable heat pack.

Oooh, I loooove this! I've been trying to come up with some sort of a large mitten warmer for my Grandmother-in-law to wear around the house, because she has arthritis.

I found you at Today's Creative Blog!

This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing it. It think when I make it though, I'm not going to sew the pack into the glove that way I can wear the gloves without the heating pack and then I can transfer the packs between different pairs of gloves.

How fantastic! I had no idea these types of gloves even existed. I will definitely be adding this to my gift list for all of my friends with pets.

Thanks for such a great tip!

What fun! Leave it to you to make a handwarmer from stuff you have at home. You are so great.

Awesome. I need something like this too, for walking the slobbery Boxer that lives here. Thank goodness, though, it's a little warmer now, huh?
