Table top corn hole game board
What?! You didn't make my tabletop cornhole boards? Click on over to my tabletop cornhole ttutorial and make a set.
I made a paper pattern to make sure I cut off of my squares the same size.
These tiny two inch bean bags are also good to have around for child playing bean bag goodness without the game boards if that's more your style.
Materials needed
Two colors of fabric (one color for each team)
Heavy muslin (optional)
Scissors
Pins
Thread
Needle
Sewing machine
Funnel
Dried beans or feed corn
Make it
- Measure and cut (12) 3 inch by 3 inch squares of fabric from each color fabric. You should have 24 fabric squares total.
- Pin two fabric squares of the same color fabric right sides together. Optional: Pin the heavy fabric to the outside of the square and sandwhich your pretty fabric that will be on the outside of the bean bag in the center. The heavy fabric will keep the beans from spilling/splitting when you play with the bean bags because they will be thrown.
- Use the sewing machine and thread to sew the fabric squares together. Be sure to leave a gap in the stitches to use to turn the beanbags right side out. Do this for all 12 beanbags.
- Use the gap in the seam to turn the beanbags right side out.
- Use the funnel to fill the beanbags with dried beans or feed corn. A tablespoon of beans should do it depending upon the type and size of beans or feed corn you use.
- Pin the hole closed with the straight pins and sew the hole shut with the sewing machine. Optional: Top stitch around all four sides of the outside of the beanbag. This will "hide" your top seam, reinforce the sides of the bags, and look professional.
- Remove the pins when you finish sewing.
- Play on!
Now that you followed my plans and built a tabletop Cornhole game and sewed the mini bean bags, you need to know the Cornhole rules!
How to Play Corn Hole - the Corn Hole Rules
Tabletop Corn Hole is similar to playing regular Cornhole with 2 to 4 players with the exception that the distance between the game boards is much shorter than the regulation 1 to 3 feet.
1. Place the boards on opposite sides of a large table.
2. The players toss four beanbags while standing next to one Cornhole game board to the other Cornhole board. If you are playing in teams of two, the team members face each other from opposite boards.
3. If a beanbag lands on the board but does not go through the hole, it stays on the board.
4. If a team knocks their opponent’s beanbag into the hole, it counts.
5. The first team or player to reach 21 points wins the game!
Scoring
- 3 points for each bean bag that goes in and through the hole in the game board.
- 1 point for each beanbag that lands on the game board but doe not go through or in the hole.

Must be something in the water in Columbus... out here Corn Hole means something completely different! ;P
Thanks for posting the rules... I may have to make a couple of boards.
Oh yes Rob I KNOW! I should mention that many bars here hold tournaments because well, of the name. Heh.
Thanks so much for sharing this at 504 Main! My (grown)kids love this game! So glad I saw this and your post on making tabletop corn hole games. I just might have to make one for my son's first house.
