Shop Christmas Week Discounts to Save Money Next Christmas

It's a few days before Christmas. I have stuffers for the stockings ('cause I like to help Santa out - he's a busy guy on Christmas Eve!) All of the gifts are tagged, wrapped, and under the tree.

Now is the time to go Christmas shopping!

For next year.

It will save you time, money, and sanity next year.

Most frugal tipsters suggest you save money by buying Christmas wrapping paper and decorations at a deep discount the day after Christmas. Unfortunately with new sales cycles and the bad economy pushing stores to offer the steep discounts early, and such there may not be much available on December 26th. But, those things ARE available at the deep discount Christmas week.

I took this screen capture of Sears Christmas Shop today.

I did a little poking around the Cheer Holiday Headquarters to see if there is anything that has been on my holiday decorating wish list or if there is something I can buy now as a gift for someone next year.  (Actually I already bought one family gift for next year when we were on vacation a few weeks ago. One family already done! Shopping year round has its benefits!)

If you are in the market for a Christmas tree or LED Christmas lights, now is the time to buy them. In fact, this is the time when Husband and I bought our Christmas tree. We got a much fuller and nicer tree for less.

If you are a Ty Pennington Style lover Ty has a new line of Christmas decorations this year.

I'm taking the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream. I'm giving myself a chainsaw for Christmas!

We have a running joke about owning a chainsaw even though we don't really need one, have use for it, or room to store it. I guess I'm going to have to get a new big ticket joke item now to put on the grocery shopping list after "buy milk."

If you are a little short on Christmas cash you can always put the sale stuff on layaway.  While you are at it sign up for Sears Shop Your Way Rewards to earn points on the dollar amounts you spend to redeem for discounts at Sears if you haven't already. Don't worry if you can't shop Sears in person. You can earn and redeem Shop Your Way Rewards points on on line purchases too. Truthfully, that's they way I do it.

    A chainsaw for Christmas...too funny.
I prepare the stockings in my house as well (per my deal with Santa), and you should hear the conversations that my son has with his friends about it. They all think it's cool that I negotiate with the man in the red suit.
