Friday Favorites Linky Party - Week 334

Monday, I was invited to a National College Move In Week blogger event by BSM Media and At Home stores. Maria Bailey showed us examples of this year's dorm room and small space decorating trends as we toured this store.  While the focus of the event is college decor, most of what I saw was appropriate for tween and teens too.

They said social media quote pillows are popular for the dorm but I can totally see the Do More What Makes You Awesome pillow in my studio.

Of course, you can use these tips to update and a little zing to adult and family spaces too.

Creative Dorm and Bedroom Decorating Ideas You Have to Try!

Destination design is popular with young women, Paris and Mexico in particular. Looking at the Mexican inspired bedroom in the photo below, the headboard, tables, vases, and lamps are fairly neutral in design. They can go from undergrad to grad school to first apartment with ease.

By adding, subtracting, or changing the accessory elements like the artwork, curtains, and pillows our student (or you!) can easily change the entire look of this room on a student budget with just a different theme of accessories.

The lower left store vignette  shows that Mid Century Modern is still popular, although it looks like we are reaching the later design years of the trend based on the rounded future on display. Which makes sense because just down the aisle was the shiny 70's- esque dining room vignette. This room reminds me of Jonathan Adler's current furniture collection at a fraction of the cost!

Yes my friends the throw I just had to model is sequin! I'm not a great  fan of 70's-esque brass but I do like a touch of shiny. I incorporated this trend with an eco bling reusable travel mug. Quote pillows and artwork is also popular. I didn't think Husband would go for a big Life Needs More Shoes and Chardonnay sign in the living room. (He's a boy and doesn't understand you can never have too many shoes.)  I opted for a husband friendly and practical kitchen towel instead.

A few more temptations I wanted to take home, especially the Panton inspired and  Eames Dowel-Leg inspired chairs! The originals are just not in the budget for whim shopping but at $99 these could be if I only had the room for them!
I showed you my project, now show me yours!
