Make a Woven Ribbon and Washer Bracelet

I open the email and sat there, stunned. Martha Stewart Omnimedia invited me to their Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Bloggers' Night Out! party to meet the Martha Stewart creative team!

Mecca!

Mindful Momma said we should make something to wear to the party.

Dare I?

Inspired by the belt on my new dress, I grabbed some washers left over from the cornhole game boards I built in the garage, a bit of ribbon from my sewing stash, and made a woven washer bracelet using A Steno Pad for My Thoughts woven washer necklace tutorial.

Another project that perfectly illustrates my tool girl side and my girly girl crafty side.

Martha Stewart Blogger Party

If I could, I would have packed you all up in my purse to take you with me but my purse isn’t that big. Fortunately, I had my new M580 EasyShare camera, a gift from my very kind friends at Kodak and was able to take photos for you. I bought the Easyshare for my mom when it first came out so it was nice to try out the new version for myself. The M580’s compact size makes it much easier to tuck into my purse and tote around town than my other camera, the colors are rich, and the preset modes make it easy to take good photos on the fly. In short, it is a great blogger’s camera.

Let’s go to the party!

Sadly I missed Martha. She had a prior engagement and could only make a brief appearance but that didn’t put a damper on the fun. There were tables set up throughout the studio featuring all of the Martha Stewart Living divisions. The brilliant marketing lesson here is that everything on display including the food, appears in this month’s magazines. Genius.

I zeroed in on Martha Stewart’s low VOC paint at because I have 5 rooms that desperately need painting.

Martha Stewart Living Low VOC Paint.

I asked a few questions about her low VOC paint and they showed me Martha’s soon to debut faux finishing tools.

A demo of Martha Stewart’s new faux finishing paint tools.

Personally, I have a love-hate relationship with faux finishes. I appreciate the time and talent it takes to do a faux finish. However, I am fussy. It’s all too easy to do them poorly and end up with a wall of, “Oh honey, NO!”

Then they showed me this.

Basketweave faux paint finish on dresser drawer front.

How to use a faux finish on dresser drawers! Now this is a bus I think I can ride. It is a small enough area to do perfectly but not the entire dresser, which I think would be a bit too much. What do you think?

The big excitement of the night came while I chatted with the editors of The Daily Wag. Picture it, I am prattling on about dogs, Blitzkrieg (hard to imagine but it is true), and what I would like to see in a dog food that I missed them calling my name….

They help Martha's dogs Francesca and Sharkey with the
typing part of blogging because dogs have trouble with keyboards.

… saying I won the Martha Stewart Pets door prize!

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Bloggers' Night Out
They took my photo and added it to the Martha Stewart Omnimedia Bloggers Night Out Flickr stream!   Photo courtesy of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia because my hands were too full to take any more photos during the party.

The funny thing is I planned to buy this very toy box after I got home from New York. Red is the accent color of my living room and the cutout makes it so Blitzkrieg can grab his toys when the mood strikes him.

Blitzkrieg was very happy with his new toys and toy box.

Thank you Martha, Francesca, Sharkey, and Genghis Khan.
I promise to share the love with some of my fellow rescues.

It was an amazing evening. The food and drinks were to die for! So much so I did a food recap including smoothies made on a bicycle-powered blender on Lazy Budget Chef.
