Hanging beds – Yay or Nay?

Hanging beds are on design trend for spring. This time the hanging bed moves indoors to the bedroom from the covered porch. Need proof? Anthropologie has a hanging bed in their Spring line.

If Anthro does it, many will follow. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing. I likes me some Anthro too.

To put hanging beds into design context, here is how the TheNovogratz’s (love them!) used hanging beds in The Pioneer Woman’s house (love her too!)

The room has an airy feel because of the floating beds. Unfortunately, the girls lost any trace of under bed storage in their tiny room, though.

You can raise some hanging beds to the ceiling as update on the traditional Murphy Bed. I can see something like this being useful in my craft/guest room.

I wonder how comfortable hanging beds are to sleep in? Some like the gentle sway and describe it like sleeping on a water bed.

I wonder how gentle the rocking would be with me. I am a notorious sleep thrasher. Anyone who’s slept on a water bed with me wakes up sea sick. With my constant rolling, I’m sure I’d rip the bolts out of the i-beams.

I’m going to go with love the look, but don’t make me sleep on one please.

What do you think? Hanging beds – yay or nay?

My first thought was "That would fall and kill one of my children." I do love it for an adult's room, but I'd lose all that under-the-bed space for the jeans I'm never going to fit into again. Oh wait...

There is no way I could possibly get any decent sleep on a bed like that. Maybe as a fun nap/hammock type thing in the backyard, but to actually sleep all night in? No way. I'd be too worried.

I think it would be awesome for a single person bed, but can't imagine sharing a bed like that with my husband. The spring mattress we have is bad enough - when my husband rolls over, I go flying. A hanging bed would make me seasick.

I've always wanted one but never tried one. I think I would love it but I don't think my SO would be interested:(

I'm going to LOVE it in our new screened back porch we're adding on. Should be lots of fun for kids of ALL ages!
