How to Make a Pendent Necklace into a Pin Brooch

I was going though my costume jewelry collection to bling out my Husband’s and my Halloween costumes. I have more costume jewelry necklaces than I do pins in my princess treasure chest. Naturally I actually need the opposite.

No worries! It is super quick and easy to turn a necklace charm or pendant into a pin brooch!

Heavy duty jewelry wire cutters like these

Nail file block - it looks like this

Pin back

E6000 metal jewlery glue

How to Make it:

1. Use the wire cutters to snip the hanging loop from the top of the pendant necklace.

2. Use the nail file block to file the rough edges of the cut metal smooth and polished. Start by using the side marked Step 1 and cycle through all four side of the nail file block to file, sand, and buff the rough cut edges smooth.

This is the easiest way to make rough metal jewelery edges smooth. Be careful not to mar the metal finish!
3. Rough up the metal surface of the pin back and the back of the charm with the first side of the nail block. This will allow the glue to make a better and stronger bond of both surfaces.

4. Use the E6000 to glue the pin back to the back of the pendent. Allow the glue to dry overnight and cure for a few days afterward before wearing.
