Growing your hair out while the hair salon is closed is one way to stick to it, without giving up and getting it cut. My husband is the family barber and stylist, so I continued to get my long hair trimmed every couple months and my two teen boys got their haircuts every three weeks as they are picky about their hair and liked their hair kept short. I definitely would not try to cut my own hair, and my teen boys would never let my cut theirs, they fired me after I attempted to cut their hair once when they were quite young.
