Fall Porch Whimsy Mood Board

It takes me awhile to get excited about early fall because it means my favorite season is almost ready to hibernate but it is not quite sweater, apple cider, and cute boot season. It is a little too early to go Halloween crazy with the decorating. I’m not sure what we’ll do for Halloween. Husband and I aren’t in the mood for ghosts and skeletons this year.

I guess we should go with fall harvest porch decorations. Leaves, pumpkins, corn stalks, and country rustic autumn d├ęcor is very eco and can stay up until Thanksgiving. I appreciate that style at other people’s homes but it is not something I want to stare at for so long in my own home. I want to hang onto to bright colors and whimsy for as long as I can until the snow flies.

I created a nontraditional modern whimsy autumn porch mood board to motivate me to think fall and spark some ideas for our porch.

fall mood board

1. Green and white carved lace pumpkins from Martha Stewart
2. Bright yellow, green, orange, and red color palette and multiple typography fonts by Better Homes and Gardens
3. Apple cider cups I dream are filled with warm, locally pressed apple cider by Busy Mommy
4. Floaty girly black tutu skirt I'd wear around the house and twirl in it until I get dizzy and pass out by Studio Mirela on Etsy

5. Red steampunkish winter cha cha heel boots by Modcloth

6. The sunflowers make this happy wreath say fall.  I can’t find the original source for this wreath so if you know who made it please let me know so I can credit them properly. Source: Pinterest

7. I love this porch! The orange paper lanterns say modern instead of summer beach. It is a refreshing take on decorating with pumpkins from Better Homes and Gardens

8. I can imagine myself wrapped in this sweater on a cool day sipping cider from an apple cider cup. Oh heck, since I’m dreaming, I’m wearing the snazzy red boots too from Lyst

9. Mini pumpkins always make me smile from

10. Polka dots, apple green, and orangey sunflowers on a grapevine wreath? Yes please. I can’t find the original source for this wreath so if you know who made it please let me know so I can credit them properly. Source: Pinterest

11. Gray and orange might be a nice change to the traditional orange and black Halloween color pallet from Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods

12. How fun is this chair in Felicia Day’s  office? (Love her!) The chair is by Joey Spiotto of Gallery 1988. The photo is courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter

13. Instead of a traditional fall wreath, My Blessed Life hung tin cans with ribbon and filled them with fall flowers. Clever! From My Blessed Life
