I found a cute house shaped basket at Homegoods (you can
buy a similar house shaped basket here
) and thought that would make a unique tip jar. (Disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convenience.)
What I really like about this basket is that it offers two
ways for people to leave tips. Simply open the lid and they can drop in some
cash, or open the door and leave their tip inside.
While it's
already cute on its own, I knew it could use a little makeover to make it even
cuter.

Easy Coat Closet Organization Makeover!
Our coat closet is supposed to be for coats and hats, but it turns into a big mess because we store all kinds of things in there. I regularly clean and organize it, but it always ends up messy again. The closet organizer that came with our condo isn't good enough because we keep more than just coats and winter gear in there.
This coat closet needs better organization and a makeover!

How to Make Easy Storage Bin Labels
I am a famous for storing something in "a better place" and forgetting where I put it.
And that goes double for my sewing room and craft studio.
I eventually learned that if I take 10 minutes of my time to make a label for an item, I will always put it back where it belongs and save an hour of searching for it later. It also keeps family members from asking me to stop what I'm doing to find household items that are staring them in the face. I tell them to read the label to the bin/caddy/pocket/shelf/whatever.
Genius!
I need to label the new storage bins I'm putting in my craft room. I want them to look cute but they also need to be something I can easily update because my supplies rotate in and out. I considered chalkboard labels like these but figure the writing will wear off with handling based on other chalkboard labels I use (Disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convenience.)
One thing I like about decluttering and organizing a creative space is I often find a long forgotten cache of supplies that I can use to make or build the custom storage solution I need. In this case, the buried treasure is a bunch of discontinued countertop samples a friend gave me. I'm going to craft those countertop samples into storage bin and box labels and show you how to do it!

Fall Wreath Alternative: DIY Birch Sunflower Basket
After I decorated the backyard patio for Fall, I figure I better turn my attention to the front of the house. My plan is to transition the front porch from summer decorations to a Fall outdoor décor theme that I can transition to Halloween if time permits (life happens!) and back to Fall for Thanksgiving (wishful thinking because of that time thing, ya know) until it is time to pack it all up and decorate for Christmas.
Instead of decorating with something like the DIY Fall wreath I made for the back patio, I decorate with a half wall birch basket.
