Easy DIY Small Space Under Sink Water Filter Friday Favorites Linky Party 532

My mini DIY project for the week was decided for me by my old water filtration system because it started to leak after I changed the filter. After some tinkering, some Googling, and tinkering some more, the only solution was to replace the whole thing. Which lead to more Googling and researching for the best under sink water filter for small spaces like our condo.

Since our water tests at a good quality, we don't need a super duper reverse osmosis water filter system. Good thing because there isn't room under the kitchen sink for one. I didn't look at whole house water filter systems because I have even less room to install one of those on the water main and frankly all of our drinking and cooking water comes from the kitchen sink.

In the end I replace our old Filtrete water filter faucet system with this exact Filtrete Maximum Under Sink Water Filtration System. (Disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convenience.) The thing that made me decide on the Maximum over the other Filtrete systems is it filters lead (not that we have an issue with it but who knows what type of pipe my water travels through to my house?) and it is easy to install because I want to fix this leak fast. Instead of writing an installation tutorial, I'm posting the how to install a Filtrete undersink water filter system video. My experience was pretty much the same in the video with the exception of it taking a bit longer trying to use a wrench in an extremely small space. Big hat tip to plumbers who do that on the regular!

The only negative I read during my research is the blue tubing connections can come loose over time and cause a leak. To  hopefully reduce this problem from happening, I wrapped all of the connection in this silicone plumbing Rescue Tape to prevent future leaking.

I showed you my project. Now you show me yours!

Time to link up your fantastic and creative craft and DIY projects, recipes, and ideas!

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as an under the sink water filtration system! Our water is good here but it couldn’t hurt to filter it.
