The Benefits of Pet Health Insurance and Friday Favorites Link Party Week 543
Lacey was more than overdue for her annual vet exam, vaccinations, and a very much needed grooming as you can see from the photo. Our fantastic veterinary practice does all of that (including boarding and doggie daycare) was closed due to lock down when Lacey was due for her shots. When the practice opened, pet parents have to wait in their cars during the exam. I put her exam off for a little longer because Lacey does better when her people are with her in the room and we all hoped things would get better and the practice could be back to business as usual. Lacey was not upset about this at all.
How would you feel if every time you go to visit Dr. H she squirts medicine up your nose and gives you a shot in the tushy? You wouldn't like it either Lisa!
Lacey's pet health insurance (we use PetPlan) doesn't cover routine office visits (we could have bought a policy that does but it. was much more expensive. Besides routine vet visits will always be a line item in our household budget) Lacey's policy covers emergencies and illness because we learned the hard way with Blitzkrieg that fighting cancer with canine chemo is expensive (and we'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.) We also learned on more than one scary accession, that having pet health insurance reimburse you for vet ER and hospital stays is a fantastic thing to have.
Pet health insurance also comes in handy when minor illness happen too. During Lacey's grooming appointment (not covered,) and semi annual exam (not covered,) they discovered Lacey has a double ear infection - which our insurance will reimburse us for the testing and medicated ear drops Lacey despises no matter how much yogurt she earns as a reward afterward.
Our groomer usually gives Lacey either a bandanna or a bow. I think they gave Lacey both because they found a nasty ear infection during the grooming and sent her back over the veterinary side of the practice to investigate (and yes I feel like a horrible pet parent for not noticing it right away.)
Time to link up your fantastic and creative craft and DIY projects, recipes, and ideas!
