I hung the flamingo shower curtain from my old rental’s John Waters Memorial Bathroom (named by my gays, because I dealt with the 80’s pink wallpaper that we inherited by decorating the room with pink flamingos. This of course is the name of one of John Waters’ most notorious early films.) I’m not really trying to do a themey bathroom again, but I like the crisp white curtain against the blue walls.
Pink Flamingos - the shower curtain, not the movie.
Unexpectedly, I now have a choice in shower curtains. My real life friend Anthony of the TFormers Transformers Podcast was having a bad day so I brought Blitzkrieg over to visit so Anthony could lower his blood pressure by petting my dog. Blitzkrieg was happy to help out because Anthony is one of his favorite humans. Anthony always has treats for visiting dogs and he doesn’t even have a dog!
I saw a shower curtain in the package on Anthony’s dining room table. I pointed to one of stripes in the pattern and told him that I painted my bathroom that same Tiffany-esce blue. “Want it?” he said. Turns out Anthony’s mom had an I’m-Your-Mom-so-I’m-going-to-buy-you-things-I-think-you-should-have-for-your-house moment and bought him a new shower curtain to replace the one he already had and liked and that didn’t need replacing.
Anthony's mom bought this
I put the new shower curtain up in the bathroom but I’m not sure if I like or not. I’m not trying to do a monochromic room. Some days I think it’s OK, other days I think its too much blue. What do you think? Which shower curtain should I choose?
“Don't worry. I'll make sure Lisa does something clever with the other curtain. Or else.”

I liked the striped one better, I think it will work with your plans to put photos up.
Your life is so adorable, there, I said it. You have a dog named Blitzkrieg (which I still can't get over) that has one eye and is so cute.
And the John Waters Memorial Bathroom could possibly be the funniest thing I've ever heard. I know you've mentioned it before, it still remains to be hilarious to me!
As far as the shower curtain, hmm...maybe the stripes would do better with framed pictures of the beach? I vote for the 2nd!
I think you should go for the flamingos, simply because the white looks very crisp and clean next to the blue walls. :-)
No opinion on the shower curtain. I am using the shower curtain that the last owner left (after I washed it, of course!), so I'm no one to be voting. Have to say how much I love the pic of Blitzkrieg. Sometimes he looks like he's winking, and other times like a gruff old sea captain who's staring you down. This is a sea captain one. "Just pick a shower curtain, aaarrrgghhhh! Shiver me timbers. Fetch my rum bottle!"
(And I hope you're not in any way offended by this strange interlude.)
I go for the striped one. It's probably not what I'd pick if I were out shopping, but I think it fits the wall color better.
If you like the flamingos better maybe try to bring in some of the color from that in the pictures you want to display, or in some other accessories.
Morgan - We all snickered at the JWMB. Husband still likes to point out that it can't be a Memorial anything because John Waters is still very much alive. Blitzkrieg thanks you for all of your kind words and wants me to say that you can send him snacks anytime you want. :)
The Queen - You nailed Blitzkrieg's attitude perfectly. Whenever I pull out the camera to take photos for the blog, he is right beside me posing for a photo. If I don't snap at least one picture of him, he barks for my attention until I do. That's why I love the photo in this post. He was getting ticked and his face says it all,"take my picture dammit!"
No offense about the rum, because knowing my party boy, he'd do it too. Fortunately the run is on a high shelf in a closet and he can't get at it because he doesn't have thumbs.
The practical side of me would go with the stripes, but I have to say, I love the flamingos!
I like the striped one. I have a condo EXACTLY like yours, just farther north, and I painted my master bathroom in blue and put up photos I took of Marblehead Lighthouse, so I love your caribbean idea. The other upstairs bathroom is turquoise with an ivory and tan shower curtain for the teenagers, and that works well, too. Good luck, I know you'll make the right choice.
PS I just put in a raised flower/herb garden out front, too, so good luck with that. My back still aches!!!
I have a doggy crush!
