DIY Magnetic No Soliciting Sign

One of the few downsides of living in a condo community with neat little sidewalks is we are an easy target for every single organization that thinks door to door sales is a fabulous way to pester people in the middle of their day with stuff they don’t want.

Like most of neighbors, I put a No Solicitors sign on my front door. Sometimes it works.
Often it doesn’t.

Every surveyor, free offer, or people offering to register me to vote (only me, never my husband, and even though I have been registered to vote since I became of age,) ignored my No Solicitors sign because they clam they “aren’t selling something.”

Even thought they end their spiel with some sort of sales pitch. Every. Single. Time. Grr!

How to Make a Quick and Easy Front Door No Sales Sign

Pin this tutorial for later and to share with your friends!

I made new quick and easy no sales sign that spells out exactly who we do and not not want ringing our doorbell (set to play Beethoven's 5th. Learn more about it here) and driving Lacey is into a psycho dog barking frenzy for nothing.

Basically, it all comes down to saying Yes ring the doorbell to friends, neighbors, and Lacey’s favorite UPS driver and No to well, every annoying pest listed on the sign.

Every month I get to shower my favorite UPS delivery driver with kisses when he brings me a big bag of Wellness dog food made with human grade ingredients   Lisa always gets the sale price and we never run out because she buys stuff like that through Amazon Subscribe and Save

Here’s how you can get your life back and without being tempted to rudely tell sales people to go away.

You will need:

Wood plaque similar to this one (or you can do what I did and cut a piece of scrap wood to size with my super sweet jigsaw)

Mod Podge Outdoor

Strong magnets

E 6000

White non toxic outdoor craft paint

Paint brushes

Scissors

Computer and printer

Disclosure: I included affiliate links in this post for your convenience.

Step by Step how to make it:

1. Use your favorite program (word processing, graphics, Photoshop, GIMP, whatever you are comfortable using) to create and print the sign sized to the wood plaque.

TIP: For projects like this, I keep a small stash of used printer paper to print a test copy on the blank side to check the sizing and placement before I print the final product. Save a tree and all that. Seriously.

2. Use a paint brush to paint the wood plaque with white craft paint and allow it to dry. Don’t forget to paint the edges of the plaque!

3. Use the scissors to cut the wording to the same size as the wood plaque.

4. Use a paint brush and Mod Podge Outdoor to glue the paper to the front of the wood plaque and allow it to dry.

5. Use a paint brush and Mod Podge Outdoor to apply a top coat to the front and sides of the sign to seal and protect it from the elements and allow it to thoroughly dry.

6. Use the E6000 to glue strong magnets to the back of the plaque and allow the glue to dry. This will allow you to hang it on a metal door.

7. Hang it up and be assured the next time the door bell rings, it’s either pizza or Amazon Prime!

Seriously, don't make it weird.
