Easy DIY Captain America Wreath

I want a new patriotic wreath to hang on my front door for the Fourth of July. I grabbed various bits and bobs from around the house (I always shop my house first so I don’t potentially buy stuff I end up not using for the project) and started to play with layouts and designs.

The design I kept coming back a floating star in the center of the wreath form which reminded me of Captain America’s shield. I wasn’t quite sure how to make the floating star work and joked it would be easier to hang Cap’s Shield on the front door and call it a Fourth of July wreath.

Then I thought why don’t I?

How to Make a Red, White, and Blue Captain America Shield Wreath

The most difficult part of making this Captain America door wreath is finding a toy Captain America shield. I considered asking Cap to borrow his shield but I’m sure he’s busy using it to fight Ultron or Thanos or some such thing. A toy Captain America shield will have to do.

The local toy departments failed me but luckily Amazon can through and I bought a toy Captain America shield from Amazon. (I am included affiliate links in this post for your convenience.)

Since the toy’s hang tag was already a attached to the shield's elastic straps I cut the paper tag off and used the plastic tag loop as my wreath hanger. The plastic hanging loop was a little long. I shortened it by doubling it up on itself and duct taping it in place.

I had to stack three magnets on top of one another to make the magnets and the top and bottom of the wreath to thick enough to attach to my front door.

I hot glued round ceramic magnets for bottle cap magnets to the back of Cap’s shield so it wouldn’t flop around when we open and close the metal front door.

And that’s it!
