How to Sew a Retro 1940's Polka Dot Top

I bought all of the materials to make a cute vintage short sleeve blouse to add a little diversity to my normal t shirt and polo shirt summer wardrobe. I let the project fall to the bottom of my To Sew list as the  costuming I'm most confident in making took priority because I very rarely, almost never make day to day clothing from scratch. Mending and tailoring I can do with my eyes closed but I'm almost ashamed to admit that until I got a computerized sewing machine two years ago I have never sewed anything with my nemesis - buttonholes - in my life.

I figured it is about time I sew a little bit outside of my comfort zone and make this cute summer blouse.

Easy DIY Dog Leash Organizer and Friday Favorites Linky Party Week 569

My craft room is default the dumping ground for everything we can't store or use in the guest bathroom while we renovation the master bath. It is a hot mess and it is driving me crazy!

As I looked around the room trying to find where I can put more storage, the only space available is on a few walls. Which was a light bulb moment because I had a few things I don't use all of the time but still want easier access than in a closet or drawer. I decided to go with a good ol' coat rack similar to the dog tail dog leash organizer I made by our front door.

I use it to organize the embroidery hoops for my sewing and embroidery machines and a few other tools and looks a lot cuter than a nail in the wall.

15 Things You Didn’t Know You Can Store on the Back of a Bedroom Closet Door

I like living in a condo, but there are days when small space living feels a little too small. One of my favorite daydreams to is to have a bedroom full of closets that are bigger on the inside like Doctor Who’s TARDIS (learn more about my favorite sci fi show here.) Oh, think of how many shoes they could hold! *drool*

Sadly Time Lord technology is not available to Earthlings (and firmly lives in the land of make believe,) which means I have to find and use as much clever and often looked over storage space to organize my clothes – by using the back of our closet doors.

I use a combination of door organizers that hook over the door (which perfect for renters!) and screw into the door itself. If you want to hang your organizers on a hollow core door, you will need to install drywall and hollow core door anchors like these first.  That’s what I use on my hollow core closet doors and I haven’t had anything come crashing down yet! (Disclosure: I am including some big bold affiliate links in this post for your convenience.)

Friday Favorites Linky Party 419

Hi everyone! Many of you asked how my family is doing after Tuesday's tornado in the Columbus, Ohio area. I'm happy to report that all my area of the city got was wind, rain, and a tornado watch. Basically a small helping of first world problems of a few light flickers and slow internet the following day which is absolutely nothing to complain about especially when storm took down power lines and poles and it may take up to 5 days to repair. Been there. Done that. It stunk on ice.

Which given that the weather went from the icy forties's to the warm seventies and back to the icy thirties it's no wonder we had such a severe storm. I'm coping with Lacy snuggles, hot chocolate, and DIY projects.

How did you celebrate Saint Patrick's Day? I got up waaaaay too early in the morning to help my favorite pub break in their eye popping grill and serve up green eggs and ham!

Well, the event was advertised as green eggs and ham because it was St. Patrick's Day and all but the look weirded out Head Chef C and Sous Chef Lisa. We stuck to food au naturale.

Mega $200 Pioneer Woman Giveaway!

This spring’s big giveaway to thank you for supporting all we do here on Condo Blues is inspired by my butter dish. I’ve been looking off and on (mostly off) for a cute and fun casual butter dish. I wasn’t having much luck because they were either plastic (no thank you), ceramic plain Jane, or cost more than the bone china butter dish I use when I set a formal table.

I added affiliate links to this post for your convenience.
Shortly after I met Ree Drummond at BlogHer, she launched the Pioneer Woman collection of cookware and dishes that look like she picked them up at a country flea market. Her butter dish was just what I was looking for and the price can't be beat. I by passed the big box store and bought my happy polka dot Pioneer Woman butter dish from Amazon.
